Useless churches

April 25th, 2005

This disgusts me.

Any church that allows itself to be used by a politician should be shut down. When so many people are hurting, and so many starving for the gospel, they can’t find anything better to do than give airtime to a politician?

Amber and I were discussing this last night. Conservative Christians always point at new-agers as an example of what the antichrist will be like: Accepting everything as truth. I think it’s just as likely he will be from a baptist church; one like this one, which can fool people into thinking the most important thing we can do is reform the world through political process.

Woman upset a twin survived abortion

“I have got a child now that I wasn’t planning to have and I believe the hospital should take some responsibility for that,” she said.

Funny how she gets on them about being responsible for their actions.

Ringtones and other annoyances

April 19th, 2005

Jeremy posted about annoying ringtones, to which I responded.

Lemme tell you what bugs me more: Speaker phones. Especially when it’s two people on speaker phones on opposite sides of you, and you can hear them both without a phone.

So, A calls B. When A speaks, you hear his voice in his office and over B’s phone. When B speaks you hear his voice from his cube and over A’s phone… in stereo, no less.

I apologize for this in advance

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about chat bots. I thought this morning about building one to mimic Sylvester Stallone and connecting it to Jabber. I would call it “JabberRocky.”

Mute Button

Christian DJ Fired

At least that’s what the theological silence seemed to be saying to millions as leading evangelical voices hit the mute button on the protestant reformation.

Really, I think the guy handled it well (not that my opinion matters). He was asked a question people are gonna get angry about no matter what he says, and he just reiterates the gospel.

I think this really speaks to what some people have said before: We’re no longer protestants, but just non-catholics.

Polite craziness

A man named Bob Fu addressed a UN assembly about the persecuted church in China. He displayed a electric baton the chinese government has used to torture people.

The reaction? China said it made them “feel threatened,” and so the UN kicked Mr. Fu out. Now China wants an apology.

Maybe they should stop torturing people. And maybe the UN should stop pretending it doesn’t happen.

And, as a side note, maybe the USA should change its ways so we will once again have a leg to stand on when it comes to talking about how prisoners are treated.
